Our Nests

Welcome to our condo.  We are fortunate enough to own two homes.  One is a small condo in Birmingham, Alabama and the other is a garden home on the Gulf Coast.  The following pictures are of the condo.

Table Set for Four in our Dining Room

Because the dining room is small, the table is sitting on a diagonal to provide more walking room. You see an example here of my collection of dishes and I made the floral arrangement on the table.

Entertainment Center Bar

I turned an Entertainment Center into a Wine Cabinet.

Coffee Table Arrangement

Condo Coffee Table Arrangement.  The lanterns were a purchase from Southern Living at Home years ago.  I painted them copper.  My bunnies are from Bug Juice, which is no longer in business.

Living Room Drapes

Fireplace and Mantel.  The gold spheres were a Christmas gift from my best friend in the world.

Laundry Organization

My sister and I worked several hours in my Laundry Room. It’s small so it had to be organized.

Shelves above appliances were purchased on Craigslist.

The courtyard was a huge selling point in the decision to purchase here.

Home. Sweet. Home.

 Home. Sweet. Home.

When we learned we were moving here 3 years ago, I was very fortunate to have enough furniture, either stored in the basement or gifts from family, to furnish this home and the condo in Birmingham.  We only had to purchase bedding and a few new accessories.

Office Nook

Using our space in ways that best suit us, we used the Breakfast Nook as our Office Nook.

Our “Cottage Guest and Bath” will do for now, but I have big plans for this suite.

These are some of my most precious art pieces. The artist of most is my very talented and generous daughter, who has painted these as gifts to her dad and I.

Farmhouse Elegance

Rumor has it that the next generation of homemakers are not into fine china, silver and crystal for their farmhouse tables. What a shame! I think adding a few rustic pieces with your china or silver service makes a unique table. Here are a few examples: Vintage Farmhouse Elegance for the Modern Table A silver […]

We All Need a Little Picnic Time

How many times have you muttered under your breath, “Well, that was no picnic!”? Confrontations with loved ones, doctor visits, difficult jobs, war, cancer battles and taking care of the elderly, are all things that we would not call a picnic. But, there’s a quote that goes something like this, “So, if ants are such hard […]

No, I’ve not lost mine! I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. But not only are all my marbles securely rattling around in my head, but I also have a couple of “marbles” to share with you from the CoziNest booth in Daphne, AL. If you follow the trends on Pinterest or follow any […]

CoziNest at The Daphne Antique Galleria

It’s been a dream for a long time. My sister, Kiki and I have talked about managing an antique booth for years. Almost every time we are together, we stop at an antique store, or a flea market or a thrift store. We love “rescuing” things and recycling them into new or at least prettier items. […]

Romantic Tablescape for Two Bloghop

Romantic Tablescape   What is romance to you? Is it snuggling by the fire? Hiking through nature with the person of your dreams? Or is it the definition given by Merriam-Webster? “A feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.” I am a “romantic” at heart and love all things related to adventure, imagination and […]

Guaranteed Rainbow in an Umbrella

A bright color palette is cheerful. I like having neutral walls and furniture so that my art can be the focal point. Here’s a look at using vibrant colors on Day 19 of 31 Days of Decorating Tabletops. Our curved sofa was purchased at consignment shop. I loved the shape, the neutral tones and the […]

A Cozy Cottage Style Guest Room

Day 18 of 31 Days of Decorating Tabletops: A Cozy Cottage Style Guest Room My house has multiple personalities. I think they call that “eclectic.” I love so many looks and don’t have enough rooms in my humble abode to have them all. (That’s one reason my sisters and I decorate other people’s homes.) So, […]
