Welcome to our condo. We are fortunate enough to own two homes. One is a small condo in Birmingham, Alabama and the other is a garden home on the Gulf Coast. The following pictures are of the condo.
Because the dining room is small, the table is sitting on a diagonal to provide more walking room. You see an example here of my collection of dishes and I made the floral arrangement on the table.
I turned an Entertainment Center into a Wine Cabinet.
Condo Coffee Table Arrangement. The lanterns were a purchase from Southern Living at Home years ago. I painted them copper. My bunnies are from Bug Juice, which is no longer in business.
Living Room Drapes. Custom-made draperies with fringe, hung from gold finials.
Condo China Cabinet. A family heirloom.
Fireplace and Mantel. The gold spheres were a Christmas gift from my best friend in the world.
Mantel and China Accessories
Condo Side Table Arrangement. The silver tea set is from my sweet Amy’s, young tea party days.
Dining Room Art
Our little office nook. It is 8′ x 8′. Tiny, but functional.
Our little office nook is brightened by this sweet face and wiggly toes!
My sister and I worked several hours in my Laundry Room. It’s small so it had to be organized.
Shelves above appliances were purchased on Craigslist.
The courtyard was a huge selling point in the decision to purchase here.
GARDEN HOME NEAR THE GULF COAST
Our home near the Gulf Coast.
Home. Sweet. Home.
When we learned we were moving here 3 years ago, I was very fortunate to have enough furniture, either stored in the basement or gifts from family, to furnish this home and the condo in Birmingham. We only had to purchase bedding and a few new accessories.
Some would call this the man-cave, but my man loves wine, so his is called the Wine-Cave.
Our “Tropics” Guest Room and Bath
A Table for Two.
Using our space in ways that best suit us, we used the Breakfast Nook as our Office Nook.
Our “Cottage Guest and Bath” will do for now, but I have big plans for this suite.
Master Bedroom and our most precious accessory.
These little architectural “windows” are two of my favorite purchases since our move.
Southern Porch Living
These are some of my most precious art pieces. The artist of most is my very talented and generous daughter, who has painted these as gifts to her dad and I.
It’s been a dream for a long time. My sister, Kiki and I have talked about managing an antique booth for years. Almost every time we are together, we stop at an antique store, or a flea market or a thrift store. We love “rescuing” things and recycling them into new or at least prettier items. […]
Romantic Tablescape What is romance to you? Is it snuggling by the fire? Hiking through nature with the person of your dreams? Or is it the definition given by Merriam-Webster? “A feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.” I am a “romantic” at heart and love all things related to adventure, imagination and […]
Bells ringing, carolers singing, shepherds watching, wise men giving, star with a tail as big as a kite. A child shivers in the cold… Here’s a brief glimpse of the halls all decked out in preparation of a celebration. The greatest day in all of history. a nautical tree whimsical hearth santa is packed and […]

A bright color palette is cheerful. I like having neutral walls and furniture so that my art can be the focal point. Here’s a look at using vibrant colors on Day 19 of 31 Days of Decorating Tabletops. Our curved sofa was purchased at consignment shop. I loved the shape, the neutral tones and the […]
Day 18 of 31 Days of Decorating Tabletops: A Cozy Cottage Style Guest Room My house has multiple personalities. I think they call that “eclectic.” I love so many looks and don’t have enough rooms in my humble abode to have them all. (That’s one reason my sisters and I decorate other people’s homes.) So, […]
Day 17 of 31 Days of Tabletop Decorating: Guest Room Inspired by an Orchid I can’t grow orchids. I love them and have tried a couple of times to nurture one to grow. Both times it slowly dropped its petals and eventually became nothing but a long curved flowerless stem. It was so sad. But, I’ve […]
Yes, I am dense. Unfortunately, I’ve been told this once a year for the last several years. Every August when I go in for a mammogram, I’m told that I have dense breasts. (I guess I should be glad they aren’t x-raying my brain!) Seriously though, this makes my risk of developing breast cancer 1.2 – […]
Day 15 of 31 Days of Decorating Tabletops: Using Contrast in our Decor. Please pin this for later. If white is the absence of color and black is the absence of light, then shadow is the contrast between the two. A shadow is born when a source of light is blocked. You can’t have the dark […]
