Fashion Friday: Southern Beauty

Today, my Fashion Friday feature is none other than Rhoda from Southern Hospitality Blog. She gets a feature all her own, because… well, because she’s Rhoda from Southern Hospitality Blog. In blogging circles, Rhoda is one of the coolest ladies in the room, so I am honored to feature her here.

When I began my blog, one year ago tomorrow, Rhoda was the very first blogger to spend some time welcoming this new kid on the blog. I traveled to Atlanta on a business trip with Mr. Cozi and Rhoda was gracious enough to spend about 2 hours giving me some one-on-one blogging advice.

Admittedly, I have followed every tip she gave me. While, my blog still has a long way to go until I’m famous, it sure looks a heck of a lot better after meeting with her. So again, thank you, Rhoda!

After an interview through email, I have the inside scoop on Rhoda’s fashion choices. Rhoda is very fortunate to be tall and thin and can wear just about anything she wants.  She told me, “I don’t have a tummy to speak of, but when I do gain weight it can be in the thighs, but most of the time I can wear stylish things and feel good about it.”

Well, I feel good about sharing my interview with her. Here is how it went:

CoziNest: “What are your favorite colors?”

Rhoda: “I love blues and greens (surprise!) and have lots of that color in my closet.  And since my eyes are blue and I’m blonde, they happen to be a good color on me. “

CoziNest: “Is there a certain style of fashion that you are drawn to (classic, bohemian etc)? Or one that you avoid at all costs?

Rhoda: “I’m fairly classic in my style choices, but I do love a few trendy things.  I love the longer tops that are popular now, perfect for middle aged women.  I love jewelry too and think that bold costume jewelry really takes an outfit up a notch.”

CoziNest: “Why do you love the outfit you’ve chosen for this feature?”

Rhoda:  Black and white is a fave of mine, so I tend to wear a lot of it too.  White is so fresh for summer and I always have white pants handy.  I’m lucky that I can wear skinny jeans and love the long length of this top for a casual summer look.  I don’t always shop at boutiques, but sometimes you can find some unique things that are not that expensive. This top wasn’t expensive at all, maybe $35 or so.

Guess who’s headed to Tarjay? Ok, back to the interview…

CoziNest: “What do you wear to stay cool in the summer?”

Rhoda: “I tend to wear a lot of sleeveless tops in the summer, since the humidity and heat really gets to me.  I wear shorts and cool tops a lot and, of course, flip flops are a staple.  The less clothes I can get away with and still look decent, the better.”

CoziNest: “Any funny wardrobe-malfunction stories?”

Rhoda: “I can’t think of any, except wearing a strapless bra can be a challenge for me. They tend to slide down as the day goes on and I feel like I’m tugging that thing back into place.  I did get a new one that stays put better though.”

Speaking of staying put… With a very successful DIY blogging career, founder of Haven – a conference held in Atlanta for DIY/Home bloggers and a home that she has updated mostly on her own, we must ask:

What’s next for this beautiful, southern, woman? Well, it’s a safe bet she’ll make a killer impression. She has the gift of making it all look easy.
