I am the Rock

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. ~ Psalm 18:2

Pacific Coast Sunset

On our last day of vacation out west, we stopped off in Oceanside, Oregon to watch a sunset over the Pacific Ocean. It was breathtaking. This rock provided an amazing foreground to what seemed a hand-painted sunset from THE ROCK.

Sun behind the Rock

Disappearing behind the rock, the sunset provides a visual trinity of my refuge, my shield and my salvation.

Through the Weeds

Weeds of life may seem to distort our view at times, but THE ROCK remains solid.

Boulder Staircase

There is a pathway. A rock solid staircase.

The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner stone.

Psalm 118:22

For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:11

  1. Hi Kim! I’m Elizabeth, and I just love this post. I’ve been leaning heavily on The Word as I deal with terminal bile duct cancer. The pictures on your blog are stunning and truly exemplify our Rock. If you are in Fairhope, I’d love for you to stop in my shop, Abigail’s Closet, one day. I start treatment tomorrow, but I hope to be in the shop on a more regular basis very soon.

    1. Elizabeth, my heart goes out to you. I will definitely add you to my prayer list. I pray now for His healing hands to hold you throughout your treatment. I also pray that you will experience His love and compassion in ways you never have before. I’ll stop by soon. I can’t wait to meet you.

      1. Oh Kim, that’s the thing-we already have! I want everyone to know the amazing things God does for those who love Him. I’m a sinner-no doubt, and I have doubts too, but our God is HUGE and He’s big enough for that. When I woke from the diagnostic procedure, after the doc told me, the first thing I asked was “ok-do I have enough time to tell everyone what God has done for us-the sorriest of sinners?” I want everyone to know how REAL He is, even when we don’t feel Him.

Have a blessed evening! And pray for me-I start chemo tomorrow!

  2. Whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report describes these beautiful verses and pictures. Our God is an excellent artist and I am so thankful for the opportunity to see his magnificent work and to know He is our refuge and deliverer.
