Are You Dense?

Yes, I am dense. Unfortunately, I’ve been told this once a year for the last several years. Every August when I go in for a mammogram, I’m told that I have dense breasts. (I guess I should be glad they aren’t x-raying my brain!) Seriously though, this makes my risk of developing breast cancer 1.2 – 2% higher than women with less dense tissue. It is enough of a risk increase to make me pay attention.

I am so very thankful that breast cancer has not touched anyone in my family so far. I am counting my blessings, but we take nothing for granted. Annual checkups and self exams are a must! Have you had your mammogram this year?

Breast Cancer touches so many and has taken the lives of women younger than me, so in honor of all those affected, this 16th day of 31 Days of Decorating Tabletops, I present a table setting in pink. May God bless each and every one of you who have been touched in some way by this awful disease.

A cozy setting for two. Invite a survivor to celebrate and set a cheerful table.

finally, sisters...

This framed verse was a gift to me by my sweet friend, Caroline, after we studied Philippians 4:8 with a precious group of ladies.

Philippians 4:8

Finally sisters…The battle against breast cancer can produce very dark days. Thinking about anything praiseworthy might make them a little bit lighter.

bunnies in october

Bunnies and pink begonias aren’t just for Easter. As a symbol of new life and the promise that Spring will come, I pray God’s blessings on you all. I pray that you can see His light through the loss of hair, and experience His calm when your stomach rolls.

I pray for silver linings that take your breath away.

I asked that He will show you blossoms in the winter.

Ladies, whether you are dense or not, don’t forget to get your check-up this year. Early detection is something praiseworthy.
